Iraqi amputee takes first scuba dive in Aquarium at Atlantis, the Palm in Dubai

Zainab Al Eqabi from Iraq has enjoyed her first scuba diving adventure at Ambassador Lagoon Aquarium in Atlantis, The Palm, despite only having one leg. The 26-year-old pharmacist lost her leg when she was seven years old when an unexploded bomb from the Gulf War went on in her home. Zainab took part in the underwater activity to show that life can still carry on with a disability.

Movenpick Hotel & Apartments Bur Dubai has been awarded Gold status by Green Globe for its eco-friendly and sustainable efforts. The Gold status came after the luxury hotel received green globe certification for five consecutive years and a compliance score of 83 per cent. The hotel has an adiabatic cooling system to protect the chillers against high temperatures, and it has expanded the green landscaped gardens to help reduce CO2 emissions.

The iconic Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai has revealed details of its new menu for the new ‘Nathan Outlaw At Al Mahara’ restaurant. Designed in partnership with British chef Nathan Outlaw, the new dining venue is scheduled to open on 24th September, 2016, and it is the first time the seven-star hotel has allowed a chef to put their name above the door of a restaurant.

The world's largest hospitality group InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will open the world's first 100 per cent solar powered hotel in Dubai in 2017. Located in Sustainable City, which is currently under development in Dubailand near Arabian Ranches, Hotel Indigo will have 170 guest rooms, and it will recycle its waste water and use produce from the development's organic farm.

The Ramada Dubai, a popular spot for many years, will be torn down later this year to make way for a bigger, more upscale property which will include a supermarket and shopping mall. The most iconic element of the Ramada is its massive stained glass mural, a panel so enormous that it made the Guinness Book of World Records. The mural is so large, in fact, that the new hotel won't be able to accommodate it, and unless a buyer is found, the massive work of art will be demolished along with the hotel, The National reports.
