Seven (expensive) dining venues to watch Dubai's New Year Fireworks at the Burj Khalifa

Posted: 30-Dec-16 10:50

If you’ve wondered where to position yourself in Dubai to enjoy the best views of the New Year fireworks around the Burj Khalifa tower, we’ve got seven answers for you, none of them exactly cheap, but each of them absolutely delicious. Read on to find out the seven most expensive (and most rewarding) dining venues in Dubai to tuck into succulent bites while drinking in the best views in town.

Seven (expensive) dining venues to watch Dubai's New Year Fireworks at the Burj Khalifa

A recent article on Gulf News listed the top seven most expensive restaurants in Dubai for watching the New Year fireworks at the Burj Khalifa. Given the exclusivity of these haunts, the themed New Year menus they each offer on 31st December and how closer we’re getting to the end of 2016; we wanted to echo the article and give you the list of top seats from which to enjoy prime views of all the action.

While the original article by lists them in order of least to most expensive, we’ve decided to rank them in order of how close to the Burj Khalifa they’ll get you. Mind you, all of these are dotted around the Burj Khalifa and Dubai fountains so they all offer great, uninterrupted views regardless…Now it’s a case of how close you want to get to the action, and how much you’re prepared to pay for it.

At.Mosphere

The absolute closest you could get to the Burj Khalifa, given the At.Mosphere restaurant actually sits inside the Burj Khalifa, on floor 122 to be more exact, and the views of the New Year fireworks couldn’t be closer. You also couldn’t welcome the new year in more style, given this is the world’s tallest building - you’ll literally be entering 2017 on a high! To drink in the best views in town while tucking into delicious brunch delicacies on New Year’s Eve you’ll have to reserve a seat in advance and be prepare to fork out a good sum, as the price will be dear. For a window table you’ll need to scrape up 2,900 dirhams per person (that’s £644 to you and me, a pittance really!).

Bice Mare

Directly overlooking the Dubai Fountains, with no other building in front to block the views over the Burj Khalifa, this fine Italian restaurant has something very special planned for New Year’s Eve with an exclusive seven-course menu that comes accompanied by live entertainment and unlimited beverages. You’ll enjoy the alfresco seating on the terrace where you’ll be able to watch the pyrotechnics show. It costs 3,000 dirhams per person and is one of the more expensive in our list, but it’ll certainly guarantee you one of the best places in town for the most unforgettable firework views.

Five Guys

The next in our list, despite being the third closest to the New Year firework action, is also the cheapest, though cheap is certainly not a word to describe it. The most chilled-out of all the venues in the list, and the one with the least pretentious food, this burger joint at the Dubai Mall enjoys a privileged setting with a terrace overlooking both the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountains. Dig into unlimited burgers, fries and shakes for 1,200 dirhams (around £266) - a more reasonable (though still reasonably expensive) price tag for guaranteed a seated spot – just think of how many burgers you could fit into a seating!

Zahr El-Laymoun

Cosy, intimate and refreshingly floral with a somewhat rustic and minimalistic air, this Lebanese restaurant has crafted a special four-course New Year’s Eve menu that includes platters for sharing and unlimited house beverages. The views over the Dubai Fountains and Burj Khalifa are great, and even that is an understatement. But if you want the absolute best seats on the house to better enjoy the impressive fireworks show there’s also a VIP area where you won’t have to be reaching above anyone’s head to catch all the action. The experience comes at a cost of 2,000 dirhams (a cool £445) for an outdoor table.

Thiptara

With an apt name, as it sits at the tip of a section of undulating borders that wrap around the Burj Lake and Dubai Fountain – although its name in Thai actually translates as “Magic at the Water” – this beautiful and scenic restaurant embodies Thai serenity with a succulent menu that places a strong emphasis on Bangkok-style seafood. Although we’re not clear on their New Year’s Eve’s menu and what it includes, we do know that dining here on 31st December will set you back 3,500 dirhams (that’s a whopping £779) per person, making it one of the two most expensive restaurants in our list. Yet the interrupted views over the Burj Lake and the Burj Khalifa are worth every penny and this also poses as an excellent venue for partying the night away into the New Year. Bottoms up!

Asado

You’ll find this restaurant sitting right next to the previous one in our list, as they both belong to the same hotel – The Palace Downtown Dubai. The views to be enjoyed here are also impressive, despite its location a bit further back than the others, you will still get to take in the fireworks in their full glory while tucking into a delicious five-course menu where you’ll get to taste the best Latin American delicacies with a strong Argentinian influence. Prepare to taste delicious, premium cuts of grilled meat in the company of live entertainment and general New Year merriment. The whole experience is priced at 3,500 dirhams, and with it being just as expensive as Thiptara, it will ultimately come down to which world cuisine you prefer.

Cabana

This is the only one in our list that doesn’t have a full front view over the Dubai Fountain, it sits to the right of the Burj Khalifa, not in front of it, which means while you will still get fabulous views over the Burj Khalifa fireworks, you won’t be looking over the scenic Burj Lake. Still, the views to be taken in are nothing short of outstanding and you will pay the price for them. A New Year’s Eve menu at Cabana will get you a mouth-watering open buffet for 2,350 dirhams per person (around £523) so while not exactly cheap, it’s certainly not the most prohibitive in our list.

There it is, that concludes our list of Dubai’s top seven restaurants for catching the New Year Eve’s fireworks extravaganza. If you’ve got the cash to splash, Dubai is one astoundingly great (and incredibly expensive) place to welcome the new year in full flair and with tons of glamour and style.
