What could be more enchanting than dining in a Bedouin tent under the night sky, with ocean waves gently lapping in the background? Amaseena offers visitors a unique way to enjoy a traditional Emirati meal, with shisha to follow for those who are interested.
The beach on which the restaurant is located is private to the Ritz-Carlton hotel, which ensures that diners can relax and enjoy their meals without undue interruption. Traditional oud and tabla players also provide a gentle accompaniment for the guests of the restaurant.
The food at Amaseena is served as a buffet. Diners can choose from grilled meats off of the barbecue, shawarma, hot and cold mezzeh and many other regional delicacies. The restaurant menu runs through several cycles, meaning that visitors can come back on different days and find new things to try.
Starters include lamb fatayer, which are delicious little Syrian meat pies. Bread is also baked in the oven and served hot to the waiting diners. A selection of 16 different mezzeh are prepared each day. Various salads, hummus and babaghanouj (an eggplant dip) are also available to complement diners' choices.
Main meals include lamb meatballs in a pomegranate syrup, lamb kofta and prawns with a garlic dipping sauce. There is usually some form of tagging, as well as a dish made from succulent local fish. Saffron or vermicelli rice is available to complement the main meal, as are a range of dips.
A wide range of beautiful desserts are produced by the chefs at Amaseena. These include elegantly presented chocolate mousse, baklawa and Um Ali. The latter of these is an Egyptian bread pudding topped with sweetened milk.
Beverages are additional to the buffet, and include a selection of interesting teas and coffees. Pots of tea can be ordered for your table.
An additional service provided by Amaseena are shisha houkahs. These allow the smoking of flavoured tobacco, a traditional way to relax after a meal in the Arab world. The hookahs burn the tobacco by having hot coals placed upon them. These are replaced every fifteen minutes by staff at the restaurant. A wide range of flavours are available including melon, appletini and chocolate mint.
